Anthology Guidelines
Tales Untold Anthology series is a book collection with short stories based on various topics in line with Ravens & Roses Publishings mission.
We want to publish unique tales from every nook and corner of this world. The more diverse your story, the better!
The current anthology topic: Tales Untold: Underdogs of Society.
We are accepting submissions for this anthology book from July 1, 2023 – September 30, 2023.
Unleash your creativity and do your best, but be original and creative in the story you deliver!
The maximum allowed word count per story is 8,000 words with a sweet spot between 5000-6,000 words. The short story must have a minimum word count of 3000 words.
What We Are Looking For
- The obvious – A great underdog story!
- Stories must be either one of the genres mentioned below or a subset of the genre.
- Fantasy and its subsets such as Fantasy Adventure, Fantasy Thriller, Magical Realism, Dark Fantasy, Urban Fantasy etc.
- Science Fiction and its subsets such as Dystopian world, Science Fantasy, Space Opera, Superhero etc.
- Speculative Fiction and its subsets such as Horror or Gothic, Folklores & Fairytales, Mythology etc.
- Tales with a unique twist/climax or with a “Gotcha” moment in them.
- Tales with unique blend of characters to promote diversity, representation, and inclusion.
- Tales that empower women, fights injustice and equality, or women supporting women!
- Unique tales from characters considered invisible by society or their peers who come out the victor after a series of interesting events. In short – the underdogs!
Submission Requirements
Please read this anthology submission guidelines carefully before contacting us. If you have questions about the eligibility of your story, please reach us using the contact button at the bottom of this page. We will respond to questions as and when we receive them. Please DO NOT send your questions to the submissions inbox.
Please note that Submissions that do not follow the below requirements will be rejected.
- Submissions are open from July 1 – September 30, 2023. All Entries must be in the English language.
- You may enter as many stories as you like, but each entry must be sent as a separate email to the Submissions inbox.
- Please submit only original content to which you hold the Copyright. Any form of plagiarized content, if detected, will be rejected.
- Entries must be sent to Submissions@ravensandrosespublishing.com with the subject line: Tales Untold Anthology – Your Story Title – Your Story Genre.
- The minimum word count for the short story is 3000 words and maximum allowed word count is 8,000 words. The sweet spot would be between 5,000-6,000 words. Please note that submissions with less than 3,000 words or exceeding 8,000 words will not be considered.

Please include the following in the body of the email submission:
- Genre and Title of your Story
- Author Name/Pen Name
- Story Word Count
- Any trigger or content warning
- Author Website and/or Social Media Links
- All entries must be submitted as a .docx file attached to the email body. Entries must follow the below formatting requirements:
- 1-inch margins on all sides of the document
- 12 pt Arial font
- Double spacing
- No HTML formatting
- All pages must have the Story Title and page numbers in the header or footer
- All authors selected for the anthology will be required to sign a publishing contract with Ravens & Roses LLC.
- All authors accepted for the Anthology will receive compensation as applicable to the below categories:
- US Authors Compensation – US$50 + author copy in paperback format
- Non-US Authors Compensation – US$60 + author copy in e-book format
